One of our favorite sides, Guamanian Red Rice is a taste from the island.
Growing up on Guam offered unique exposure to incredible foods. Though Red Rice has many variations, they all start with the humble annatto seed. Annatto, a small red seed packs incredible earthy flavors providing the background setting for this side dish. The annatto seed are placed in water to extract the flavor and color. The infused water is then used to cook the rice.
Added to the rice during cooking are fresh diced onions and your choice of turkey or apple wood smoked pork bacon.Who can turn done bacon in any dish?
We also offer Red Rice with a traditional Chamorro finadene sauce. Finadene is a salty, spicy, lemony condiment and island staple.
